1. Avoid dehydration
Did you know that airplane humidity is notoriously low? It usually sits around 20% (ideal humidity for skin is between 30-70%). While this does not pose serious health risks, it can be seriously uncomfortable: i.e. dry, irritated skin, mouth and eyes.
Steer clear of caffeinated or alcoholic beverages while up in the air. Or at least remember to drink water as well and bring a moisturiser suitable for sensitive skin. Try giving your eyes a break and opt for glasses instead of contacts, too. Thinking of these little things can make all the difference.
2. Destress your mind
The holiday part is fun. The flying and travel? Maybe not so much. Stress and internal pressure can manifest on your skin causing break-outs or flare-ups. Before you set off, try downloading your favourite playlist or meditation podcast. Maybe pack a sleep mask and catch up on some rest. Remember that taking care of your mind also plays a role in your skin’s health.
3. Pack the essentials
You know the essentials by now: moisturiser, SPF, protective clothing (if you are going to a sunny spot). The important thing to remember is packing the items that you know will keep your skin calm and happy during your trip. Go-to moisturiser? Buy it in travel size. Can't go to bed before using those certain make-up wipes? Pack them! Surprise rashes or sunburn from an unknown product can ruin a perfectly good trip, so make a list and ensure all your favourites are also coming along for the ride.
4. Prep your skin
If you know your skin is sensitive or prone to break-outs while out of your routine, take the extra step to help secure its safety and get a skin treatment beforehand. All Kleresca® treatments are proven to normalise cellular activity in the skin, resulting in less inflammation and better overall skin quality. And, how could we forget, the treatment doesn’t cause photosensitivity! What better way to start your holiday than with comfortable, happy skin?
Skin anxiety during holidays? Never heard of it. Happy travels!
